Walking to Tesco (1)

One of the great things about being in Lowestoft is that I can walk to do my weekly shop along the sea shore. It's about a mile and a half along the beach and half a mile inland. The area below the cliff is called Denes and is where I have done a lot of walking to and from where garienos lives as I have hiked along the coast. Below the cliffs is a lowland heath so you get very interesting nature - sea and heather! Today I had longer to have a good inspect and take photos. Some tonight and then more tomorrow when I get back from doing my washing.

Here is another shot of the lighthouse for themadblonde
as I walked down Lighthouse Score to get to the beach:

The tide was well out today (I need to get a set of tide tables for future reference!) so b/w groynes:

The other thing about walking along this part of the coast is I get my own personal spring. I have visited this many times with garienos over the years and seen how the water moves the land it flows up through. Sometimes the water is exiting from under a lip of earth, today it was coming up through the earth like a live thing:

There is a small video clip of it here to show you what I mean. If you ever see this happening don't ever try and paddle. What you'll find is quicksand which you'll sink into.

Living somewhere so beautiful must make up for missing Kew. You are so lucky.

What a lovely place and by the sea - good for you! Thanks for your beautiful pictures.
And wow! this video is fantastic! I have read about quicksand but I have never seen it. Brrr...it must be a really bad death there!

Hi, I just want to say that I saw your lighthouse as portrayed by and thought I'd come and look at your photos....and they are smashing. I collect replica lighthouses so love visiting real ones. I wondered if you'd like to friend? I also live in East Anglia but about 85 miles from Lowestoft.

Ooh, certainly friend! Where are you in this part of the world?

and BTW ... I am quarryquest on Dreamwidth too. I just keep forgetting to cross post. DW doesn't have an input box that I can change colour on so that my dyslexia doesn't hit me so hard which is why I do a lot with Lj. I do have semagic which allows me to cross post and work in a nice environment so I should use that more often.

Found you over there and added you :) I cross post here but disable comments (it becomes too time consuming replying to comments in both places).

My younger son is dyslexic.

I'm in lovely Ely :)

I love Ely and must go there sometime to hunt green men again. I 'did' four years in Wisbech but Lowestoft is easier for those without a car! The internet makes things bearable too now.

I'm not from the area but did live in Peterborough 30+ ago for a while and I have a very old friend in Wisbech. I moved here because one of my sons was here at the time and I have grown fond of Ely. Being by the sea is better then being in Wisbech I think :)
